Then online training could be perfect for you!

Our online sessions take place via Whatsapp video and are 45 minutes long. These sessions allow you to talk through the particular behavioural and training issues you might be facing and talk through a behavioural modification plan for this.

Following your consultation, you’ll receive a personalised behaviour or training plan with practical, force free strategies tailored to you and your dog.

Behaviour consultations are designed for dogs experiencing more complex behavioural challenges that require a thorough assessment and an individual behaviour modification plan.

Taking place in your home or another appropriate location, these consultations allow me to observe your dog’s behaviour within their everyday environment and gain a deeper understanding of the factors influencing their behaviour. Before your appointment, you’ll complete a detailed behaviour questionnaire to help build a complete picture of your dog’s history, routine and current challenges.

Behaviour consultations are suitable for concerns including:

This specialist session is designed to help families build safe, positive and confident relationships between children and family dogs.

As an approved Kids Around Dogs professional, I provide practical, evidence based guidance to support both parents and children in understanding how to interact safely with dogs in the home. The focus is not just on training the dog, but on creating clear routines, safe boundaries and age appropriate education for children so that everyone in the household feels confident and secure.

During the session, we will cover:

* Reading and understanding basic dog body language (child-friendly explanations)
* Safe ways for children to approach, interact with and play with dogs
* What behaviours to avoid (e.g. hugging, chasing, disturbing resting or feeding dogs)
* Teaching calm, respectful interactions between children and dogs
* Setting up safe spaces for your dog within the home

A structured training walk is a one-to-one session where I work directly with your dog in real life walking environments to help reinforce good lead manners, focus, and calm behaviour.

Unlike a standard dog walk, this service includes gentle, practical training throughout the walk. I will support your dog in practising key skills such as loose lead walking, engagement, and responding to cues in real-world situations, helping to build consistency and confidence outside of formal training sessions.

Connected Canines (Thursday Eve)

These classes are suitable for dogs of all ages. Get tailored advice and help for you and your dog from a qualified behaviourist and learn key skills along the way. The classes will focus on a range of skills including lead walking, recall, confidence and socialisation in a group setting.

I understand that not everyone can commit to a full course, so that’s why I’m offering some more flexible options. These classes run for 6 week periods,

Group Class Terms & Conditions

At The Thaxted Pet Co., I aim to be as flexible as possible with weekly group classes, understanding that everyone’s schedules can change from time to time. To ensure classes run smoothly and fairly for all participants, please note the following policy:

1. Course Duration and Validity

• For 6-week course bookings, one course session may be carried over to a future course in the event you’re unable to attend.

2. Rescheduling Policy

• Classes may be rescheduled within the above time frames where possible and subject to availability.

• Only one session may be carried over to a future course, any other unattended sessions will be forfeited, and I will unfortunately be unable to offer rescheduled classes unless there are extenuating circumstances.

3. Pay As You Go (PAYG) Option

• If you prefer not to commit to a full course, you are welcome to attend classes using our Drop-In Pay As You Go (PAYG) option, subject to class availability.

• PAYG spaces must be booked in advance and paid for at the time of booking to secure your place.

• Please note that PAYG bookings are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another date or class once confirmed.

4. Class Cancellations

• In the unlikely event that The Thaxted Pet Co. needs to cancel a class (for example, due to severe weather, instructor illness, or unforeseen circumstances), as much notice as possible will be given.

• Any cancelled session will either be rescheduled or a credit will be offered towards a future class.

Group Reactive Rehab - Level 1 - Foundation skills

Join us for this special course specifically designed for highly anxious or reactive dogs.

This 6 week course will guide you through understanding your dogs reactivity and giving you the tools and confidence to overcome and improve this.

Class sizes will be made up of a maximum of three dogs and owners, ensuring you and your dog have the space to thrive and build confidence.

The venue has both inside and outdoor space that we will make use of during sessions to ensure social distancing.

Each owner will enter the venue one at a time through a designated entrance and leave through a specific exit ensuring dogs have their safe space at all times.

Building on the foundations from our Level 1 Reactivity Course, Reactive Rehab (Level 2) is designed to help you and your dog take the next step — transferring your training and coping skills into real-life environments with confidence.

This 5-week follow-on course combines controlled indoor sessions with practical outdoor training walks, giving you the opportunity to practise your dog’s focus, calmness, and handling skills in gradually more realistic situations.

We know that taking reactive dogs out into the real world can feel daunting — this course is here to guide and support you every step of the way.

Scentwork Explorers – New Term

Scentwork Explorers is back, and this term we’re mixing things up! Instead of working only indoors, we’ll be taking our scentwork skills out into a variety of environments, using both indoor spaces and outdoor areas to really put our dogs’ noses to the test.

Scentwork is a brilliant activity for dogs of all ages and abilities. It taps into their natural instincts, builds confidence, provides fantastic mental enrichment, and is a great way to strengthen your teamwork together.

This class is open to all dogs and exercises will be tailored to suit where you and your dog are in your scentwork journey. Whether you’re completely new to scentwork or already have some experience, you’ll be supported with progressive challenges to help your dog develop their searching skills.

Expect fun searches, problem-solving, and plenty of opportunities for your dog to use their incredible nose in different environments.
