It was two years ago when Jenny felt isolated and restless, working from her small sea-side home outside of London. Instead of succumbing to the solitude, Jenny embraced her proactive nature, and developed the idea of Home Life – an oasis for people like her, who needed a space to work without feeling isolated.
The spark of Home Life
Home Life now stands as ‘a little London office by the sea,’ catering primarily to remote workers who have shifted from London but still carry jobs there. Having a worked out idea is one thing, actually executing the idea is a different kettle of fish. What made Jenny accomplish it? “I would go crazy working at home, like many in our little town. When the right space also came available, I was sure I had to go through with it.”
The core inspiration behind the business wasn't just to create a working space but to combat the loneliness many faced, offering flexibility and a sense of community. Her words echo a sense of care and genuine concern for those around her, making Home Life more than just a space – it's a community. Jenny: “The atmosphere is relaxed, it feels like home and it is driving customers to keep coming back.”
Searching for a flexible booking system
When asked about the challenges of running a business, Jenny's main struggle had been a booking system for her flexible workspace. She has battled with booking systems that were everything but simple. Jenny: “I also wanted to have the option for people to come last-minute, when they feel isolated. Her advice to budding entrepreneurs across the world is simple yet powerful – ”Just do it and stop overthinking it. It's better to try and fail rather than not try at all. When you got an idea, you got to go for it!”
